Default COd 4 fruit killing?

I've noticed over the last couple of days that I can no longer shot/move objects in COD4,
i.e. bullets have no effect of fruit, blocks etc. have I inadvertently changed a setting in the game?

Wow, never heard of that
I wouldn't think a setting called would be possible "Have effect on objects" NO/YES
Reinstall the game, save your profiles, and or favorites and that would definitely solve the problem.

I think that the destructable melons and moving tin cans etc have a DVAR. On promod or pam servers they are disabled for performances purposes.

If its happening in stock servers then i suggest you delete your mp.cfg and try again.

Re-installed the game. Pulled the old player setting from the original install.
It was something in the original config_mp.cfg file, when I replaced the new install with that file I had the same problem. Fortunately I'd backed up the new installs and just put it back in again. Kept my ranking just had to configure the controls as I'm a lefty.

There must be a CVAR to disable the destructable fruit and tin cans, not sure what it is though.

Out of curiosity, i notice that you have a core I7 and running vista64. Do you get the 2 minutes of punkbuster lag upon joining a server? Its like a stutter that happens ever 3 - 4 seconds for 2 minutes.

More on that toic here https://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m...0&mpage=1&key=

No can't say I've ever noticed it, but if I change any setting while ingame I get the disconnection symbol for a little while. Forgot how frustrating PC gaming can be at times

That just postpones the amount of time pb sends heartbeats, when you enter most servers pb will connect to your pc straight away, then again with the amount of seconds on the pbsleep command.

The problem isnt anything i can do about, unless i play on vista 32 or xp which i dont want to do. Just seems to be an incompatibility issue with Vista64, Core I7 and Punkbuster client for CoD4.

Just had another play on the game, and there is a little lag on joining a server, but nothing that's making me pull my hair out (which is a good job as I don't have much left ).
I tend to stay on my clans server most nights so it's on hit and it's over.

Just been playing with the settings on the game, in the never ending task of making things look better. My next task was to try eliminate pop up. Best I could do was change the /r_lodbiasrigid to -1000 default is 0.

set to defualt (o) this image looks like this, with things popping in as you walk through tha map.

Set to -1000 it looks like this with none of the extra detail poping in as you walk through the level.

Well happy with the result.
