Under full load mine gets to the 70s, but nothing brings it up that far besides synthetic benchmarks. Usually 45-50C while gaming and 30-35C idle. Overclocked 160x20 with turbo mode, speedstep, and HT enabled.

Idd the voltage regulator can get pretty hot. In xtreme cases i have seen people using a fan mod to cool the vreg independantly. Around 75c is a good temp for the vreg when the CPU is under load though temps upto 80c are pretty common.

Just slapped that heatsink on my 920. Works great. Temps idle in the low 30s, doesn't go above 62C on full load at 3.9ghz.

you don't want to speed up the stock fan,if you want to overclock then buy a after market heatsink. you can get a pretty good one for $34, a XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 92mm for $24.99 and a i7 bracket for $9.99.

Around 1*C cooler with the DK and TDK is substantially quieter
http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2333&page=5 that reviews convinced me to get TDK for my new i7 build this weekend. IMO it seems to have the best performance to low noise ratio. It was a toss up between TDK and the standard non black chrome plated version but hey... it's black plated chrome... Totally metal. ![]()
