I got the console working perfectly on 8800M GTX with help of uvesafb. It's basically the same card, so I believe it will also solve the problem for you.
Regarding brightness, on my side, the folder is not empty, however: Code:

Alright i finally got brightness hotkeys working by installing the following in Ubuntu 9.04:
linux-backports-modules-generic linux-headers-lbm-generic installing the System76 drivers (I'm using the Clevo M570TU, which is almost identical to the System76 Bonobo Professional) |
