Ok can somebody explain this to me? I have been playing, but I am wondering if I have to PLAY the sniper class to randomly get the new sniper weapons, or if I can just play whatever to get them?

you need 10 sniper achievements to get the first unlock, 16 for the second, and 22 for the third. I believe all classes work like this although I only got addicted to the game last week.

The patch notes say you don't need achievements anymore I thought... they just unlock over time.

Yup. Achievements are only for looks now. Stuff randomly "drops" for you (I haven't gotten anything yet). I think with the other classes you can still unlock stuff via the achievements, but with the Spy and Sniper it is only random stuff. I heard you can unlock them even when spectating, so I guess you don't have to be playing the class to get them. This seems like it will be really annoying to get them though, since some people will just get really lucky and get them all real quick, I will probably be very unlucky and get one every 18 days or something ridiculous lol. Feels like a dang MMO now

Yea there was also a patch first thing this morning. I to am disappointed in the way they just drop randomly.

I got like 10 sniper achievements in 10 minutes on 2 fort, yet picked up a spy cloak unlock on granary playing heavy.

This new drop system is just retarded. I have been playing for hours and haven't gotten 1 thing yet, while other people play 10 minutes and get crap. I would just be happy getting stuff I already had

I've played more than most people play in a week since the update and all I got was a second backburner. Worst unlock system I've ever seen.

apparently it's not meant to be like that, hats should be rare, unlocks should be consistently dropping for everybody.

This is the dumbest update ever. I have been playing constantly and I finally got my first unlock. The Axetinguisher or whatever that crappy axe is called... and of course it was something I already had, just like I had assumed it would be.

There was some bug from preventing drops, it should be fine now.

When you guys say "dropping" what do you mean?

Are people dropping weapons randomly so that you can pick them up? Or do you just get a message that a weapon has been given to you?
