I have the same problem. Console doesn't restore after switching away from X.
Same Card (Quadro FX 770M), same laptop (HP 8530w). Used driver version 180.35.

I'm also experiencing this bug, but it only manifested after I started using two monitors. That is, I was using 180.37 with a single monitor, and I could switch to text-mode VTs just fine. But once I started using two monitors, switching to text-mode VTs just gives a black screen with a blinking cursor. I can even log in by typing blindly, but nothing appears on the screen except the blinking cursor. Switching back to X works fine, and there is no corruption or instability once back in X.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I'm talking about the monitor to which the BIOS boots. The NVIDIA X driver reports it as DFP-0, and the other monitor (which goes black with no blinking cursor when I switch to a text-mode VT) is DFP-1.

Same Bug here (blank text consoles after starting X)!
This is really annoying as I cannot see shutdown messages either.

See attached report for details.

I have the same problem, switching from X to console, e.g. Alt+F1 gives me a blank screen with just the cursor blinking (screen 0 doesn't power off, screen 1 goes to stand-by). No input is possible but, e.g. Atl+F7 works to switch back to X.

I'm having a Asus EN9600GT Silent card (thus 9600GT with G94 GPU).

Driver is 180.44-2 from Debian...

Anythin new here?

Regards,
Chris.

btw: The "NVreg_UseVBios=0" trick as reported here http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=120492 doesn't help me.
