Can anybody reproduce artifacts when playing movies on 1080p using vdpau?
What I see is: If there is a horizontal movement in the movie, then there is a horizontal edge in the bottom half of the display. Below this edge the movie flickers: It seems that only every second frame is shown. Kernel is 2.6.30-rc6 plus 180.60. HW is Acer Aspire Revo. |

This artefact may simply be tearing due to lack of sync-to-VBLANK in the blit-based presentation queue in that driver release. Please try out the latest 185.18.* beta release and see if that fixes it for you.
If not, can you please see the sticky "How to report problems with VDPAU and/or MPlayer/VDPAU", and provide the bug report information mentioned there. Does this happen on all streams, or just 1 specific stream? If just specific streams, can you please upload a sample to the file-drop mentioned in that sticky. |

Much better. I will keep 185.*.
I got this problem on all kinds of movies, but a very good test case seems to be the opening titles of "Paul Blart - Mall Cop". |

Unfortunately 185.18.14 still shows some tearing artifacts at the top of the screen. Way better than the 180.x drivers, though.
I had emailed a bug report about this as suggested, but there was no response at all :-(. |

It's probably best to post the bug report files here.
