My sentiments exactly, but some people find it to be great and I want to know why.

New taskbar is something you get used to it. At first I didn't like it. It's thicker and awkward until I made some changes to look similar to Vista (smaller). Now I like it a lot. A lot more than Vista, hell it blows Vista's taskbar away. It's better than Mac OS X's dock too. I'm using taskbar with icons only (no text).

This explains it all:

I love the new taskbar. Neat organised, minimal. I did make it a little thinner though. Having it thick brings some nice options though, epecially for Live Messenger.

I do too but its easy enough to enable quick launch and remove all pinned items. Takes me about a minute and a half tops to "fix" it on a clean install. No big deal.

If you select "use small icons" and "never combine" in taskbar properties, it reverts to a more or less vista style taskbar.

Win 7 is nice, but it's not THAT much better. People who say it is must have only used vista like 2 times the first week it was out.

I agree. I haven't really had any issues with Vista.
