Isn't Piranha Bytes the original developers of the Gothic Series? If so... I will stay away from this one...

This looks fantastic, especially art design.

As with the Gothic games, this looks awesome.

I hate to complain about yet another game\developer, but these guys have one of the worst track records of any recent developer when it comes to putting together a AAA title that actually works. They put out the same game three times, updated the graphics and carried over every major problem with the gameplay, including a truck load of bugs and glitches.

If this gets good reviews I'll buy it for sure, because Gothic 2 (the only one I've played much of) had all the ingredients for the perfect RPG, but it was just so horribly flawed... and Gothic 3 was apparently the same exact thing, which is why the team got canned. If they can actually do it right this time I'll be all over this game.

I never had a problem with the first Gothic, and it remains to this day one of my favorite RPG's.

I hope it plays as good as it looks!

My only gripe about the previous games by PB is the character models and animations always look bad.

Yep seen the gameplay video. looks promising! (as long as it comes out soon and w/o being bugridden)

Reminds me of Gothic 3. I hope this delivers. I loved Gothic 3 despite the bugs, however, the community patches have solved most of the game's issues.

The game is now complete and in its polishing/finalizing phase.
(scheduled release: this summer)

I played it on the RPC in cologne this month,
and I was stunned by how atmospheric this game is.
As an rpg fan I have missed this kind of depth in an rpg for a looong time.

The comparison to Oblivion is not that far off, except that you dont play in first person view, but in third person view (1st person only if you fire a bow or a crossbow so far).

So its more like an offline WoW with a story, an ending and less grinding.

The monsters are actually pretty cool I have to say - these vulture like creatures actually fly and dive down on you to attack.
And the spikey things put up their spikes if they feel threatened.

I havent played that much, but from what I have played I can safely say that this will take the rpg genre by surprise like the Witcher.
Hope this is true.

+1

The games always looked great prior to release and even after release but man were they practically unplayable at times...

I wonder if they finally got a good control scheme because every other game they made had some of the worse controls.
