So I just purchased a FX5200 car to install in an old box and turn in to a HTPC box. The machine has built in video and no AGP slot, hence the PCI purchase.
Ubuntu 9.04 will install fine if I leave the FX5200 out, but as soon as I put the card in, during install of a new copy of the OS, or using an existing copy, during boot when it goes to load Hardware drivers (this is without installing any drivers yet, just OS drivers) it has a page fault and the whole OS crashes. Basically I can't install Ubuntu with the FX5200 in the machine. Is there some driver CD I can download and burn (during the install there was an option to load manufacturere drivers) or some other way to make this work? I can't be the first person in the world to try an install Ubuntu 9.04 on a FX5200... Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will supply whatever info I can. The motherboard is some Asus custom Job for HP, but it is based off the Intel 915 chipset. Has integrated Audio, Video, LAN and Firewire. |
