Default 185.18.14 graphical glitches with kde4 and java GUI application

Linux distribution: openSUSE 11.1
Linux kernel: 2.6.27.21-0.1-default x86_64
Nvidia kernel module 185.18.14
kde4-kwin-4.2.89
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06) (packaged with groupwise java application)

BFG OC Geforce 285
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 05e3 (rev a1)

If I run the java application Novell Groupwise email client under KDE4 with the 185.18.14 I immediately get the following symptoms:
graphical glitches
mouse cursor stops or slows down
Xorg process is pegged at 100% CPU usage
kernel messages such as:
NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 13, 0001 00000000 00005039 00000328 00000000 00000023

If I use programs other than the java GUI application the screen does not glitch.
If I use KDE3 with this java GUI application the screen does not glitch.
If I use Windows Vista x86_64 the screen does not glitch.

I've tried turning off compositing via KDE's "Configure Desktop" -> "Desktop Effects" -> "Enable desktop effects" (unchecked) While KDE4 graphical effects are off, Groupwise java app still initiates this graphical glitch.

I tried disabling GLX but via Disable "GLX" option in /etc/X11/xorg.conf however according to my /var/log/Xorg.0.log logfile it's still being loaded

(WW) "glx" will not be loaded unless you've specified it to be loaded elsewhere.
(II) "extmod" will be loaded. This was enabled by default and also specified in the config file.
(II) "dbe" will be loaded. This was enabled by default and also specified in the config file.
(II) "glx" will be loaded even though the default is to disable it.

Default Re: 185.18.14 graphical glitches with kde4 and java GUI application

IMHO this is the same issue as reported in another thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=133913
