If you really want to get the scoop on tweaking FSX see my thread over at Orbx.

http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=9908.0

The thread developed a great deal as I refined the tweaks introduced in the first post, so I recommend reading the whole thread, or perhaps find my posts near the end where I had refined the settings. The main tweak however, which I named "The Miracle Tweak", is to set a BufferPool value of 200MB+. The more video RAM you have the higher you can go. I run mine at 300MB, but guys with 1GB cards can usually run 400MB. This one tweak will eliminate stutters on most any Core 2 or i7 system. As with all tweaks a number of factors are involved and they must be balanced, so things like texture bandwidth multiplier can effect it if that setting is too high, for example. Read the thread and play around, as that thread has the keys to get any fast system running stutter free.

Man that's a sweet set up NB. Let us know how FSX runs on that. Been thinking about going i7 but it seems that some people are getting good performance with FSX and others looks like it's no better than what I'm currently using. I really like the look of that Rampage board but it's around the $NZ900+ mark which is expensive for me. My next choice would the EVGA model along with the 920. Hmmm..decisions.

YES!
Man, it's a huge difference. Finaly I can taste the sweetness of flying, even over Manhattan. Here some DX9 screens, sharpened, resized from 1920x1200, but only ingame AA+AF. I was so lost in it that I didn't even have time to install REX,TrackIR, so this is the pure FSX, only just a few cfg changes. By the way, I have the (subjective) feeling that a TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT of 80 looks better than 120 (@sillyeagle) on my system. I'll be back with more when I'm finished installing all my ad-ons.

Yep! I would Luuurve to have that board but fundings tight so might have to settle for this http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...ly=Motherboard Family. Your OC on that 920 is awesome. When I shift to i7 that's the target I'll be aiming for. Those shots are fantastic. Must be so good to finally able to FLY FSX. Have fun.

Thanks for all the tips guys! I am just starting to play around with nHancer.

Here is a FSX video I posted on youtube. Anyone know how to take better quality video. The quality on this one is really bad. I used FRAPS to record and Sony Vegas Pro 8 to edit and encode. I must say I know next to nothing about video editing/encoding.

Thanks!

Hey guys here's your chance to let Microsoft know your feelings on their plan to create a "flying game" rather than a new simulator. Former ACES employees are saying this is your chance to be heard! Take the survey below.

Nice shots NuBee, and glad to hear she's running so well. By the way there was another update released for the T-45 freeware, which now gives VC shadows if you're a DX10 flyer. Search for tv45c185.zip at flightsim.com.

Incidentally this freeware plane works well with the freeware Nimitz that was recently released. Get that here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/24429238...NIMITZ_IKE.rar

This is only one of the many configurations, and if you have EZ Walk Camera you can roam around inside the carrier as well. See the thread at SOH for more.

Just filled it out last night. I really hope they don't turn FS into an arcade game. Then we are stuck with X-Plan and personally I think X-Plane needs a lot of work.

Agreed - filled in the form, though I doubt it will sway MS unless the response is very large and much in favour of business as usual with the FS franchise. I don't want gimmicks or a load of crap that I and most FS enthusiasts don't want. I also don't want them to lock-out third party devs, as they have been the life blood of FS and keep it interesting.

I think X-Plane could become a good platform, esp. if devs such as orbx turned their attention to it, but I don't see that happening unless MS FS dies a complete death...at least it is there as an alterative.
