The EVGA gtx 275s are available on Newegg now. I noticed the nvidia download site will say there is no supported linux driver if you try to download specifying gtx 275.
So my question, if I buy it, will it work in linux ? |

It should work, at least with 185.19.

Well, not that I have any reliable insider knowledge but I would suspect that the GTX 275 does work even though the current nvidia driver might fail to recognize it.
When I first started using my 9800 GT it showed up as "Unknown NVIDIA GPU" but I was still able to use it just fine. But hopefully you'll be able to get a more reliable answer from someone else around here. Edit: Doh, too slow.

@ldesnogu: yes, 185.18.xx NVIDIA Linux graphics driver releases are more recent than the 185.19 BETA (see earlier threads on this topic).

For people looking for more information, I installed 185.18.10 beta drivers on my machine (Core i7 920, ASUS P6T Deluxe v2, Gainward GTX 275) using the pkg2 script. If I'm to believe glxgears, it works since I get >20k FPS (instead of 500 I got with the nouveau driver that came with Fedora 11 preview).
AaronP, thanks for confirming the beta drivers are supporting the GTX 275.

Hi!
I have a GTX 275 and now I have to learn using linux (Suse 11.1 to be specific). But I saw that the nvidia page does not offer linux drivers for gtx 275. Now I read that the recent drivers are working on them, but I have no Idea how to install them, because adding nvidia.com to the software repository does not work. so, could you please give me a guide on how to install this driver? thx. |

@Arp: please see e.g. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show....php?p=2016740, ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...E/part-01.html and http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490. If distribution specific driver packages are available for 185.18.xx, it is recommended that you use them, instead.
