Unhappy 96.43.13 vs. >= 2.6.30: nvidia_drv.so segfault

Note that this bug also happens with the 96.43.11 driver patched to compile with 2.6.30+ kernels.

The last line in /var/log/Xorg.0.log is "(II) NVIDIA(0): Initialized GART." The display goes blank and the console is unrecoverable at that point. The system seems otherwise unaffected: I can login remotely via ssh and perform an orderly reboot of the system to restore the console.

Here's the last part of "dmesg" output:

Linux agpgart interface v0.103
nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint

Attached please find the requested nvidia-bug-report.log file. Thanks in advance for a fix, because this machine is almost unusable without the "nvidia" driver (vs. "nv").

Default Re: 96.43.13 vs. >= 2.6.30: nvidia_drv.so segfault

I have the same error(segfault) with nvidia geforce4 440 go 64MByte, kernel 2.6.30.1,
nividia driver 96.43.13. I also tried the driver 96.43.11 and 96.43.09 with this kernel, but
nothing works. So maybe there is some new feature enabled in the kernel which shall
be disabled ???
My kernel 2.6.29-rc7 works but only with 96.43.09 and not with a newer nvidia driver.

regards markus
