there is a lot more to read at the link

haha I love how MS tried to deter the 7600 leak from spreading with the "it hasnt RTM'd yet, but will by the end of the month". Granted I would never believe MS would say "yes it's RTM'd in fact you can grab a copy at your favorite torrent site 3 months early!"

Then today announced it RTM'd.

Looks like the minor build did advance today -

leak was compiled on the 10th, they could have compiled few more builds in that time.

16384 leaked, there is also 16385 out there that we know of.

there is no proof that 16384 is the FINAL FINAL RTM

says that the FINAL FINAL RTM will have build around 7600.18000 or 7600.19000

Yea but it could just jump to 1800, like they jumped from 726x to 7600. They are telling people at the convention it's RTM'ing today I doubt much will change besides a build number. There cant be anything significant.

build number is significant, if you have wrong build down the line updates won't work

I was able to update 7260 to 7600. I went back and clean installed after the fact but was just curious if it would work, it did.

I doubt there would be a problem updating 7600.16384 to 7600.16385.

I have a (sort of stupid) question for you nice folks.

I'm downloading the 64x Win7 RC from the Microsoft site, and the ISO filename is 7100.0.090421-1700_x64[...].iso.

Supposedly, the final build is supposed to be 7600.something-or-other.

Does this mean the RC I'm downloading is way away from the final build?
Also, I read somewhere that the latest RC build was 72XX.

Can someone help me out with this?

On a side note, anyone notice anything particularly worthwhile to mention between x86 and x64 versions?

Tuork the RC candidate you are downloading is the officially released RC (if that makes sense) and is the same one I am running which is build 7100 so yea it's older than some of the non officially released versions but don't worry, it's very stable and will give you a good taste of what is to come in a couple of months when you will get the official package. I wouldn't even bother with trying to get those other newer releases right now.

Thanks for the info Dan. I'm jumping on the Win7 bandwagon in a couple of hours. I need to write some code real quick and setting up my computer will take a while, so I might as well do it before.
