Any aussies here use Steam ?
Just wondering how the pricing works, say a game like aion shows 49.99 that would be U.S i'd assume ? or does the price change based on being in Australia ? Or does Steam charge aussies in US dollars and the bank does the conversion ? Cheers.

all steam prices are USD.
I look at currency conversion at the time of purchase, then add a little bit onto it (like $1 AUD at most). Bank does the conversion. I think it tells you at the last step that it's USD, otherwise it's just $. Our dollar is still pretty strong at the moment against the greenback, few months back it was quite bad. But new games are usually $20 cheaper than retail now for me. You can also use NCSOFT STORE https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/Store.pl. USD also, but you won't need to have steam running to play AION (I used it for Guild Wars purchasing, seems pretty hassle free only it wouldn't accept my Visa card last time :P )

all games are USD but some games will have local pricing.
CoD4 was on Steam for 49USD which i got for like 55AUD (awhile ago) and then like 2-3 days later they up the price to 90AUD or something like that. I am with bigpond, so i make sure all my downloads go through the gamearena server, and some of the games like in USD are really really cheap to get through steam and the content download doesnt charge to ure usage, and i am on cable extreme :P, so 4MB/sec download. |

Yup, most games are USD, some games are USD, but higher so once converted they are close to local pricing (Fallout 3 is a good example) then there are a few there were listed in AUD (CoD4 as mentioned). It's confusing...

The only bad thing is the Rockstar pack with GTA 1-3 does not even show up on search for us, along with other packs and games, despite being able to buy them retail

I got MaGNUS to gift me Fallout 3 when it was on sale, I got the 50% off plus the usual US rate, not the jacked one that Aussies got for some reason.
