Default Linux base Android for Creative's Zii EGG

Not sure if you guys have heard of the new Zii EGG device from Creative (www.zii.com) which would somewhat be the first PMP to run the Android OS. The specs of the device are as follow:

Although it looks like an iPod touch, the functions seem much more impressive. However, you can only buy the Developer Edition SDK set now. I'm just wondering how difficult is it to write apps and games for the Android. What language must i know in order to start? What is the iPhone running on then?
