I could also be blind, but I can't see where you selected the "nvidia" driver in your XF86Config file. There should be a line that looks like this:

driver "nvidia"
Sorry if its off-topic, but in your config file, the mouse settings, I see resolution 800.. as in 800 dpi ? Or am I wrong here ?

I haven't been able to get my Gainward mx440se 64meg card to work with X for about 2 months now.... tried every driver I could find online, at least 20 different kernel builds from 2.4.20 to the latest 2.6 vers... tried using mesa opengl wrappers, you name it. even tried downclocking the card using nvclock. no matter what I get one of 3 things: nothing, scrambled white ascii characters, or scrambled white ascii characters with some scrambled blue and green ascii characters. I'm no newb to linux, x, or nvidia cards. when I pop in my cousin's gf3 ti200 i have no problem whatsoever, when I pop in my mx440: crap. I once waited 3 days to see if something came up beyond a black screen, and it eventually came up with scrambled ascii characters sometime between 40 and 50 hours. I've given up. note: I tried a evga mx440se, same thing. I'm running an AthlonXP 2100+, epox 8rda+ nforce2, pc2700 (1 gig), everything else pretty standard.
