thats really cool running in FurMark. Ive never seen a stock cooled GTX 280 only reach 65'C at 5 minutes in FurMark. mine gets to 93'c and all the reviews sites that ive seen who used FurMark were getting 85-95.

I just got a brand new GTX280 SC and I have a few questions for our specialists here
![]() 1. My GPU temperature increases to around 105°C when running FurMark for 3-5 minutes with fanspeed set to 40%. The temperature does not increase above 82°C with fanspeed set to 100%... Does this sound like a faulty GTX 280 or not? (No artifacts noticed / 1600x1200x8AA). 2. Furmark runs perfectly fine in benchmark mode however when starting the stability mode using the same settings like for benchmarking, the 3d output is complete garbage, even with a "cold" (45°C) GTX 280. Known bug in Furmark? 3. Should the latest Forceware drivers (like 180.84) autothrottle the GPU fanspeed according to the actual GPU temperature or is the speed fixed at the setting defined in the nvidia control panel? |

hy guys, just wondering if 50C idle and around 87C with furmark( the fan o the card is really loud), are this temps ok, i just mounted a 12cm fan in front of the card ( i have a antec 1200 case and has a slot right in front of where the videocard goes), i installed this fan because yesterday my card was at 95C while playing WoW all details to high , it was kinda hot in the house ( dont know the temp, but it was hott) , i have a asus gtx280 factory OC version, are this temps normal?, oh and furmak was on for 5mins with no AA

Hello all, reading this sounds very familiar with my problem i had.
Bought a PoV Geforce GTX 280 a couple of days ago, installing etc all was going fine till i played FC2 online and my 280 GTX maked a hell of an noise like someone breathed for air in a extreme way. Figured out that my card temp was around 120C and then my screen got black, sended back to the store where i bought it and got a new one. Well this one did got the same problems aswell, sended back again and got another one. This one was finally the good one, normal temps atm 45C and stressed around 70C and no problems anymore so im a very happy man. |

Was there ever a fix for this besides returning the card? I just got a 260 SSC card last week and it's been running great, 45c idle and about 72-74c while running Crysis or any other game. The fan never kicks up from 40% while playing games. Last night i came home, jumped on AoC, and about 5 minutes in i started hearing the blowdryer kick in. I checked my temps and i was at 95c and 100% fan speed. I rebooted the computer and temps went back to normal, i ran the game again and never got above 71c. Later on i was playing Crysis, alt-tabbed out, and the fan shot up to 100% and my temps went into the 90's again at 100% fan speed, even though before that i played for a few hours and never hit 75c at 40% fan speed. I can repeat this behavior over and over again by either alt-tabbing out of a game multiple times or using alt-enter to go from full-screen to windowed mode. Now if this was an actual heat issue the card would always run that hot, right? Seems to me like a driver issue or something. I'm running Atitool as i type and have been for like 15 minutes and sit at 74c so the heatsink and fan are doing their job. What else could make running the same thing at the same fan speeds be 30c difference in temperature? |
