Maximum video resolution supported by VDPAU to decode?

When i try to watch QuadHD video sample with mplayer i get this fatal error:

But i can watch it without -vc ffh264vdpau
On other hand i can finely watch videos up to 1080p using VDPAU decoding.

Out of curiosity, where do you get quad HD clips from?

It's really sad, because most of modern processors now can handle 1080p without any problems, but maximum playback\real speed i could get on QuadHD sample was only 0.5 (20 seconds to play 10 sec clip) on my Q9950 processor and here VDPAU's help would be really nice.

Really? Since no real material is natively more than 1080, i don't think it's "really sad" to not be able to hardware accelerate such kid's jokes

3 years ago there was no real material more than 720, 5 years - more then DVD's one, should i continiue?

HD is just beginning. Don't expect more than that until 20 years.
In addition, you should note that "The more, the best" is a past century point of view. We now want "The best with the least"

Zarbis, I can play the file just fine now.

Uses around 75% CPU and plays fine in WMP at 50fps.

crisalide, QuadHD is not 20 years but today, as in 2010.

my monitor can natively display 2160p video which is why I wanted to see a sample running at the full resolution.

The h264 samples I have only run at 3-4 FPS (max out one core).

These are hardware limitations. Wait for nextgen hardware, i.e. Fermi+1.
