Testing 4ghz now with 7.7.7.16 ram timings (ram has plenty more headroom). If this passes I'm going to test my bus frequency.

Can you up your memory frequency? My DDR 3 ram is rated at 8,8,8,24 but I am running it at 8,8,8,22 at 1434. I had it at 7,7,7,18 before when it was about 1360 and it ran fine. I haven't tried those memory timings with it set at 1434 but I will later. Right now my memory is chugging along fine while overclocked to 1434.

Um, no clue. I really don't know much about OCing Core i7. I have it set to x6 right now because x8 puts me way over what my memory can handle. With Core i7 I only see the Memory Freq be affected when I change the CPUs Bus Freq.

Yea the cpu bus fequency affects the memory timings on my system too. Well that and the memory divider.

That's the main reason I got the 1600mhz RAM. In order to hit the upper ranges of the cpu's potential, you really need ram rated for higher speeds to allow it to step conjointly with your Bclk settings. I force my RAM to 1066 before I set my OC and when I hit 3.8 it set the RAM to 1523mhz or 77mhz below its rating. Not sure how much headroom beyond the 77mhz I have on the RAM though as I haven't tried to go above 3.8ghz yet.

Yea i wish I would have thought about it a little more and got 1600 ram but this 1333 is doing pretty good I think to run at 1434 happily like it is.
I tried setting it to 7,7,7,18 timings like it will do at 1360 and it wasn't happy. |

This is my 24/7 OC....I had it at 4.4 for a while but I just couldn't get it stable + temps here in CA are way to hot for the vcore it would have needed.
Maybe Ill do better when Gulftown comes out ![]() ![]()

I had to back mine down to get it back to low 40's-high 30's.
