+1, id lost me after D3... they're great at creating game engines but suck at creative/original thinking for game play, they seem to always deliver zombie/human mutations in almost every one of their games...

I love zombies and mutants, and deserts and post apoc environs.

Ive been playing fallout 3 to death recently, and actually managed to finish the game somehow(I always go around ignoring the main story in those kind of games, and have never finished oblivion or elder scrolls), though I had already clocked over 100 hours in fallout 3 before I finished the game,
So more of the same sounds good to me, though unfortunately, I dont think this will be anything like fallout 3 |

Yeah, this game's closest comparison would be Farcry 2, I would guess... though hopefully a lot better.

While they sure know how to build engines, they don't know how to make games. Rage looks good, but ID still hasn't seem to evolve. What do you expect from guys like ID who still use 2D sky boxes and low polygon counts by today's standards?

Doom3 I believe was the most successful game in id's history. I know some like to bash it, but I thought it was a great game.

I see ID like I see Croteam with regards to gameplay mechanics, except ID's games are much darker, more "serious" har har. They have an opportunity to break out of the past, into developer primacy with Rage & Doom 4, however it is very possible that these latest releases will show that there are many cobwebs obfuscating their view of game trends and gamers' desires. |

As said, Doom 3 was not a failure... some people in the minority like to act like it's universally hated, but it's not the truth.
And personally I liked Quake 4 a lot.

looks like rage has an even better shadow system going and the sky is hands down the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

doesn't matter... looks better than the sky in any other games I've seen/played to date.
