While there were a couple of cases where WinXP outran Windows 7 and Vista, for the most part Windows 7 wins more than it loses, especially when you factor in multi-GPU technologies like SLI and CrossFire. In fact, if youre a Windows XP gamer with SLI or CrossFire, Id definitely urge you to upgrade to Windows 7 as soon as possible.

It looks like there's not much of a improvement if any over XP. Even the 64 bit isn't.

I don't think there needed to be. XP users have older PCs with less resources ...and that is where windows 7 shines. Its nice to not have to drop another 5% FPS with an unoptimized OS. When Vista launched I lost alot of FPS in Vista vs XP. Win7 has much more mature drivers and the OS seems to be much more finished than Vista was when it RTM'd. Im running Windows 7 on my Inspiron 5100 with 2.4Ghz single core CPU and 1GB ram and it runs great. Thats what Windows 7 is all about!!

right, but they never mention how Win7 runs as good as XP on older machines. All the reviews focus on games or office, never just the OS compared to Vista and XP.
