Default 9500GT drivers fail when Hauppauge 1600 card is installed

Just got the parts for my first PC build in the mail, put the parts in and eventually got the NVIDIA drivers (185.18.31) to work with my Vizio VW37L. However, when I plug in my Hauppauge 1600 HVR PCI card, the video drivers fail to load and I'm left with a command prompt (I'm running opensuse 11.1 with KDE 4.1). If I try to startx from the prompt, I get this error:

NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidia0 (Input/output error)

I've check the IRQs to see if they're getting mixed up but lspci -v tells me the tvtuner's irq is 20 while the video card is 221. I have the tvtuner's drivers and firmware installed.

Here is my setup:
* APEVIA Black SECC Steel / Aluminum X-MASTER-BK/500 ATX Media Center
* GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
* SPARKLE GeForce 9500 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16
* Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 ATSC/ClearQAM/NTSC TV Tuner PCI w/Remote 1178 PCI Interface
* AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
* G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
* Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive
* SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD Burner Black SATA
* BYTECC 6 ft. HDMI Male to DVI-D Male Single Link Cable
* And again, Vizio VW37L

Any suggestions or things I could try to narrow it down? I had the same problems with the drivers from the opensuse nvidia repository (185.18.14), while the nv and vesa drivers work. Thanks for the help.

Please see the forum sticky posts about how to generate a bug report log file.

Oops, I must apologize for not following the sticky. Here is the log file:

Here's the problem:
Code:
allocation failed: out of vmalloc space - use vmalloc=<size> to increase size.
vmalloc size=1001000 flags=1 start=f8800000 end=ff3fe000 node=-1 gfp=d0
There's a section about that in the README. Basically, adding your extra PCI device is causing the kernel to run out of memory.

Ah, that seems to be a fairly common problem with a simple solution. I suppose that's strike two for me. I used vmalloc=256MB at grub and it fired up perfectly.

Very grateful for your patients and help. How do I mark this as SOLVED?
