Default Force Texture Compression

Is there a way to force texture compression for all OpenGL applications by default? My graphics card only has 128mb of video ram and new games like Warsow 0.5 really reduce performance if texture quality is set to the highest.

I was googling around and it appears that this is an option available through Windows tweak utilities...

Isn't it just an OpenGL extension....ARB_texture_compression, EXT_texture_compression_s3tc,etc. Check the ioquake/warsow wiki for the relevant cvar setting.

I use a laptop with integrated graphics, an 8400m gs with 128mb of video ram. This new version of warsow uses quite a bit of video ram and enabling opengl texture compression (gl_ext_texture_compression) helps a lot.

I was just hoping there was a way to use this on other apps forcibly.
