It's more like if GRID and PU had a baby and the the washed out look of GRID was lost through natural selection. That baby would be Shift.

Game plays very very well and performs awesome. Great visuals and unmatched sound quality ever heard in a racing game till now.
Sadly this game doesn't have Local Area Network Multiplayer yet, but as far as I know, its coming with the first patch yet to be announced. I saw it running on LAN Mode at GamesCom, and it was running in LAN Mode at E3, so there definately is LAN Code included...

Is there also the catch-up feature of your opponent in this game? Meaning if you have a big lead they always seem to catch-up quite quickly, like in Most Wanted.

As far as arcade racers go this is an awesome game..Slawater, no matter how much you want this game to be iracing...it just isnt. Your opinion is that of a guy that plays sim racing titles...this is an arcade racer and a damn good one at that. I haven't enjoyed a racing game as much as this on the PC and it pwns GRID into the ground.

Looks like this will be one of the first games I purchase after getting my desktop put back together.

Now, just need ATi to release those 5800s already! lol

Knowing EA, they would give you half a lap in the demo.

But since I've been playing Dirt 2 lately, Shift just doesn't seem right. Dirt 2 does a much better job at car control and feedback. Even with a gamepad (360 version).

I didn't expect a sim but I was hoping for a decent game that should be fun with wheel and pedals thanks to the awesome c0ckpits and cars. But it's exactly the controls and handling that are so badly implemented IMO. Games like Dirt 1 (PC) or TDU were much more fun because you can feel the car.

So in my opinion, this game is bad compared to other arcade racers, not just sims.
I'm using the Xbox 360 wireless wheel and I'm having no problems whatsoever. This game is fantastic! Just turn off all the driving assists and customize your dead zone to your liking and you're good to go(also use manual transmission!).

This game is the first racing game that even comes close to the feeling of driving a real car(there are better sims out there, but they are boring as hell) and the AI isn't retarded(would have liked some more competition from the AI drivers though; winning an event on hard is easy).

The fact that you even mention Dirt 1 as being a better game just amazes me; I thought you knew what you were talking about because that game is simply awful.

Driving is top notch and the races are pretty hard, 'til you upgrade and tune your car that is, but the whole interface and career mode is just really bland and could have used a bit more fine-tuning. Overall though this is without a doubt one of the best racing games I've played since Gran Turismo 4.

Demo is definitely needed. Lots of varying opinions on this game.

If you enjoy Grid, you will enjoy Shift. I find Shift to be tons of fun with my steering wheel and pedals, took some trial and error to get it just right but its worth it.

Great graphics and exciting racing. Its no rFactor or GTR, but never the less a great racing package.
