GRID was pure arcade, just like DIRT 2, NFS Shift is a SIM with tiny bit of arcade if you need (enabled it)

The driving experience in shift is far beyond what grid/dirt2 offers, its nothing like any previous need for speed game either. I was truly shocked when i first played it, every car handles differently and the ****pit view is very intense especially with the high end cars. Its a mix of sim and arcade, probably the best of both worlds.

I just played the first race in NFS Shift. Here are some of the Need for Speed Games I liked.
NFS Porsche Unleashed NFS Hot Pursuit 2 NFS Underground (first one) NFS Most Wanted NFS Carbon Okay you got me pegged now. I don't like SHIFT. I don't like SIMS. Need for Speed was never a SIM and shouldn't be one now. Give me a NFS Most Wanted 2 or NFS Carbon 2.

On hard mode some of the faster races seem impossible to win to me at the moment. It does seem the handling of the cars may be setup for quick full lock turns, meaning a game pad setup. I think with good enough wheel and car setup a race like above could be winnable, (as long as the ai doesn't run you off the track). Shift has allot of tuning options and there is much room to too race harden any car. You start with a stock car, I like that, then you take it and you upgrade and tweak it, test, tweak and race. Then you take it online and race. Invite races are different. They do need...must tweak the FF and the AI to some extent maybe a normal mode in between Med & Hard. It most definitely is no rFactor or GTR but it's better than GIRD and way better than Underground 1 & 2, Most Wanted, Carbon ProStreet or Undercover.

Is it just me, or does this game seem to have a slight "jerkiness" or something?
I can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't feel fluid like grid did. Maybe I need to update my drivers.. Also, this takes forever to load between races even with ssd's. |
