Default GTX275 Cooling Fan

Hi there

I bought a new GTX275 and after running the Tropics Island Benchmark for a while I noticed the Core Temperature was at 75C while the Cooling Fan still runs at 25%. It appears the Fan never run any faster. The Card is a MSI N275GTX TWIN FROZR 896MB, it came with a big cooler and 2 Fans already. How do I manually set the Fan higher, maybe to 50-75% ?

Thanks in Advance

1.) 75 C is fine for the GPU
2.) You can controll it using nvidia settings after setting option "coolbits" "4" (or 5 if you want overclocking support) in your xorg.conf using the latest beta driver.

thanks Dragoran

the manual fan speed setting with the coolbits option works fine but i leave it at factory defaults for now. just curious my old card, a 9800gtx+, scaled the fan speed on demand, usually 30-60% and this new gtx275 is locked at 25% full-time.

best regards

I have the same card and the fans do indeed ramp up when needed. Run Furmark in wine for example and you will hear them ramp up in a hurry.
