Default Blank screen after Tesla c1060 install on Jaunty

Hi guys, very noob hoping you experienced users can offer some guidance.

Here is my hardware build:
Foxconn Destroyer motherboard
AMD Phenom 9850 CPU
AMD OEM CPU heatsink/fancooler
4x Nvidia Tesla c1060
Coolmax CUQ1350B Power supply
Crucial 16GB of RAM (4 each 4GB Micron DDR2667 DIMMs)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM SATA
Lite-on DVD 22x burner
Lian-Li PC80 case with the optional W-75BT transparent window side panel

Prior to installing the Teslas last week I had the box running as a standard CPU machine with Ubuntu Jaunty Jackelope 64bit OS, problem-free.
I downloaded the Tesla Driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-185.18.36-pkg2.run from the NVIDIA website at http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d...185.18.36.html and installed it; however upon rebooting my machine now gets me through the initial ubuntu splash screen and then the screen goes black at the point where I would normally enter my username in ubuntu. No keyboard input seems to have any effect at this point.

I'm wondering if you might happen to know a solution for this condition, or maybe whether you could point me in the right direction -- I've been looking around ubuntu forums and Nvidia forums and have found some similar-sounding issues with other Nvidia boards (eg 9400GT) but nothing specific to the Tesla c1060 on ubuntu. I would greatly appreciate any advice you might have.

Thanks in advance.
