What "consolitis" means is pretty subjective. I found the original a strong PC port.

It's not really that subjective anymore. It has a definition now.

•clumsy and frustrating user interfaces
•super-large fonts (used to be seen on televisions from afar)
•extremely poor visual quality, characterized by low texture resolutions, low polygon counts by current generation standards, etc.
•poor control not optimized for the keyboard/mouse control scheme
•horrible handling of saving games, or limited save model
•lack of options (resolutions, audio settings, graphic quality, etc.)
•the inability to remap keys to certain actions
•platform-style gameplay suited for gamepads
•simplified game mechanics
•unoptimized performance not taking advantage of the latest PC technologies
•no support for mods, and no editors for customization

that's retarded. the game model is changing. lack of pc centricity and consolitis are very different. i'm too lazy to write out all the reasons why. and some games shouldn't be played on a keyboard.

yes because computer games can only be played with a keyboard and mouse...

The only one I agree with being a sign of "consolitis" is the oversized HUD. I personally turned the HUD off in AC, but didn't think it was that bad when it was on. It was large on the console too, it was just a kind of ugly HUD in general really.

I do agree about savin and simplified mechanics, but that has nothing to do with consoles, that has to do with appealing to mainstream gamers, which every tens of millions of dollars worth of development game will try and do. Also, the game saves every 5 seconds, it's not like you need a quicksave anyway.

As for the rest, I just don't agree... I found the graphics great, I found the game ran smooth and I was under min processor requirements when I first got it. PCs have had "platform game mechanics" for a long time, and you can use a gamepad for the game if you feel the need... Tomb Raider anyone?

Mostly you just sound whiney. The game was well done on PC. If you want to see a bad port I can list a few for you to try, like Saint's Row 2 for instance.

I didn't mean to imply that any of those apply to Assassin's Creed. I really loved AC1. It was honestly a great port and great game. I'm really disappointed AC2 has been delayed. I was just saying I think we all know exactly what is meant by consolitis. It just pains me to know the console version is the more important and profitable platform to them, I have no choice but to wait. I just try to imagine there aren't going to be millions of people playing and talking about it before I get a chance to play it on PC. I should be glad they're taking to do it right but really is it that hard, have they not done this before do they not know their time lines. Where they really like, "oops we spent so much time on the console version we can't finish the PC port in time." I would be much more inclined to believe this is a calculated deliberate "delay" planned a long time ago.

I wouldn't surprised if they suddenly realized their port to PC was crap and quickly delayed it... PC is a distant third in priority I am sure.

I also wouldn't be surprised if it was planned, as the original post from a while ago indicates.

Who knows, really...
