I got my copy off MSDNAA and installed 2 copies last week. So far very pleased w/ it. Consumes less resources (< 1GB vs >1.5GB of Vista), a lot less HDD thrashing, and applications open noticeably faster, which was especially immediate as soon as I played around it a little bit. Games run a little faster on 7 than they were on Vista. Looks very very slick too. When I was coming from XP to Vista I thought Vista was pretty slick-looking, but 7 beats V to it. Default desktop backgrounds are surprisingly pleasant to look at unlike the generic ones in V and in XP & haven't run into compatibility issue as of yet. It's a little to early to conclusively judge but this is the best & prettiest OS I have ever used. Granted after about a week of use, I will never go back to V again.

I am running and have been running both items, and they are pretty final, finished and polished, already.

I've been running this for months.

The final, public reveal will likely be on October 22nd but it's already available for download isn't it?

Is the current version not the final?

I've checked out the RC of the new Virtual PC haven't bother with XP mode RC though. I've been waiting for the final of both... I can wait for the 22 but hope it turns up in MS subscriber downloads sooner.

so, im a linux guy through and through, but my wife absoultely loves her win7 install on her netbook. i will admit, it's a decent OS for sure. Well done this time around MS
