Thanks Stephen
How does one add the NVIDIA-glx-190 to synaptic? (For mythbuntu 9.04 - so I can change back if necessary?)

JYA's testing repository installs 190.25 so I am testing that now. Stephen, no need to answer, unless there are further improvements in 190.32?

190.36 is now available in the testing repository.

Note that with nvidia's move to separate libvdpau from their driver, soon you will be able to use myth with any nvidia drivers without having to reinstall the whole thing.

Thanks jyavenard.
Any idea why I can't get the update from 190.25 to 190.36? Despite having 190.25 installed synaptic does not show the nvidia-glx-190 or nvidia-190-libvdpau in the list filtered on nvidia, even though nvidia-glx-180 is there. I also get "W: GPG error: http://www.avenard.org jaunty Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 43C5D7EA63702FD3 Jean-Yves Avenard (Packages Signing Key) <reg-jya-gpg@avenard.org>" so perhaps there is a key issue? The key installed is 63702FD3 2009-01-28

Found why it can't be found in Synaptic, it is there in the complete list but the Quick search does not find all the matching search terms!!!

Dragorep, sorry, I don't see anything relevant in those logs. The only error is the inability to create the overlay-based presentation queue, which probably isn't an actual problem, depending on your system configuration.

I get heavy pre-empt issues with driver 190.36 while running mplayer and firefox with flash in parallel - see files attached. Hope to get this fixed soon, have not seen so much issues with 185.18.36.

ollo, your logs don't show any instance of preemption, and in fact no errors of any kind that I can see.

Hi Stephen,

fine, but why is my desktop including mouse pointer going stall for a few seconds from time to time under the mentioned conditions? Haven't had this with driver 185.18.36. Please find attached another debug output file which shows the stall situation while running xine-vdpau application - check for those lines starting with "video_out: Verwerfe Bild ...". Do see anything here?

Thanks & regards, ollo

I'm sorry, I don't know.

The xine output doesn't contain anything that would help analyze that problem. An nvidia-bug-report created after the problem occurs is the only thing that might provide useful information, if the problem is caused by NVIDIA SW/HW. If your previous nvidia-bug-report was taken soon after the problem occurring, I'd lean towards this not being an NVIDIA issue, because nothing showed up there, although there could always be some problem that didn't make the log for some reason. If so, the cause of the problem probably isn't directly related to VDPAU.

From your bug report:
Quote:
Option "UseEvents" "true"
I remember UseEvents caused freezes like you describe occasionally.
