I've hated Symantec for years, might have to change that. |

I am not saying detection is better with norton than any other av suite, but the software is pretty good at managing system resources. |

Most of the really infected machines that come into the shop either have AVG or McAfee, adn a far smaller percentage has Norton. I've used NAV 2009 Gamer Edition for awhile and I think it's fantastic.
Like someone else said on here the norton removal tool actually does a pretty good job of getting all the symantec crap off your system. |

I use SAV10/corp exclusively and it works very well for me.

NIS 2009 really shocked me how light/impressive it was. Havn't upgraded to 2010 yet, just gonna wait and c for any issues if any show up. 2009 running perfect as it is. ![]() |

Actually, I stopped using all Norton products about 3 years ago because of the many documented issues (i.e. poor detection rates in their AV software, high load on system resources, endless bugs and pesky notifications). A few months ago, I did some research regarding AV suites for my new build (I've just used AVG and Avira for the last couple years with good results) and Norton AV '09 was at the top of the list. It had a higher detection rate, used less resources, had a more user-friendly GUI and retained a very small footprint. I went with it and haven't regretted it for a second. The other 4 pc's in my household still use assorted free apps for AV, but I'm seriously considering buying a "family package" in December (makes it easy to remember renewal dates).
