For ****s and giggles, I installed this on my Win 7 64bit bootcamp partition on my uMBP.

I couldn't select 1440x900 as a resolution, but the game ran great at high settings no AA, 4x AF and at 1280x800. Temps weren't that bad, but still too hot for me to consider even gaming on this macbook.

I finished the first mission last night on Hardcore, pretty fun game. I need to pick up another copy for my dad to play.

That worked, but this is an ugly game. Very low res textures, very sloppy mouse controls and feel. Sorry but OFP 2 looks 100 times better.

When is the demo coming out? I want to buy this game but not without trying it out to see if I'd like it.

Yeah I want a demo too.

The complaints I've read about AI problems and things getting stuck on rocks\scenery sound pretty significant, but the game looks really cool.

A more realistic version of Battlefield 2 with more varied objectives would be awesome for me... but I don't really know what to expect with this.

OPF2 is pretty half-baked because it won't offer you the freedom of OPF1/Arma/Arma2, no dynamic environment, single player is too short (5-6hrs) and has no exciting story line and multiplayer is pretty useless without dedicated servers and more maps and modes.
It would be a cool game for 20€, but for the full price it's disappointing and Arma 2 offers a lot more, but has a few more problems.

EDIT: seems there is hope for improvements: http://community.codemasters.com/for...d.php?t=385422

In my opinion ArmA2 looks quite a bit better. It has the better textures, better lighting and shadows, better color palette, better animations. It has a bit worse special effects like smoke/fire/muzzleflash though. The FOV is also spot on, but yea by default it has some sort of mouse smoothing, that can be a bit annoying but with v1.04 you can disable it. The design of the islands/worlds is also far better in ArmA2 than OFP2, roads, buildings, houses, trees, all are placed in a realistic and believable manner, not just in a boring copy&pasted way.

To each their own but both games cater different audiences and OFP2 surely isnt a milsim, but an arcade shooter with some tactical and semi-realistic features and with a more cinematic SP story/experience. Its a good game in that aspect but ArmA2 surely is the more complete game (SP+MP) and it will last alot longer thanks to the strong modding community and better dev support.

I can post some screenshots but people were complaining about the trees in OFP. The first part of ARMA II in the chopper I'm looking at low res textures all over the place in the chopper. Then we got on the ground and the trees just looked "plastic" and fake. The controls on the mouse were very "floaty" and that annoyed me too.

To me is worse the control in OFP DR, is like a play with a pad , the mouse has a artificial aceleration or is capped to play worse with mouse .

About the graphics ... Well, you killed me with the 8 gb memory affaire . However , you is capable to have a PC capable of running Armed 2 - not like some other people - with 8GB RAM with one 295 and with a i7 but you is unable to use Google to find a solution to the ****ing problem in 30 seconds . Not like you will be able to play the game if you can not use this thing called google.

Here are those screens . Let me know when you are able to put a similar image of OFP DR or even any other game.
