V-sync works on CRT display but not on TV-out

Hi,
is it possible to have V-sync on the TV-out? Currently it's the other way around for me but I'd like to watch TV and movies on my TV-set without tearing.
I tried adding the 'TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder "TV, CRT"' option to xorg.conf but it didn't help.

I use Twinview (not cloned) with KDE 4 and its desktop effects (OpenGL, direct rendering and V-sync are on in Systemsettings). I use Mplayer (with direct rendering enabled and the GL output option since xv has always tearing).

I found out about the enviroment variables described in chapter E and that has worked.
