For those who have preorded win 7 has anyone received shipment notification? For example if you order from newegg.com ? Would they ship it today where it show up on the 22nd? (three day shipping) Or will it be sent on the 22nd?

It will either ship on the 21st or the 22nd.

I think its a full install only but it backs up the data.

yes, but you have to edit one file on the dvd to remove restriction.

and that file is? Would it be better to do a clean install?

in the iso, sources folder there is a file called cversion.ini

content of the file in RTM version looks like this

[HostBuild]
MinClient=7233.0
MinServer=7100.0

only part that actually matters is MinClient=7233.0, this basically means that any build older then 7233 can't perform upgrade.

if you have windows 7 RC, then your build is 7100. change that line from 7233 to 7100, and it will allow you to perform an upgrade

give it a shot, see how it goes.

I preordered through Newegg and yesterday I got the shipping notice. According to the tracking number it is supposed to arrive to me via UPS tomorrow on the 23rd.
