Question HDMI output to HDTV "dot-by-dot" or "monitor" mode?

I use my 46" 1080p LCD as my PC monitor and I was wondering if it were possible make the Nvidia driver think it's a monitor instead of a TV.

I'm not sure how to describe it. You see while I am running X there are only two real resolutions that I can set the TV to, 1080p and 720p and the TV says that in the OSD. However when the nvidia driver is not loaded, I can set the TV to whatever resolution/refresh I want and the TV will show the full resolution/refresh in the OSD just like a real monitor.

The reason for this is I want to use the match frame rate feature in MythTV to help with jitter and the nvidia driver wont let it set the refresh to anything other than 60 or 59.98fps, 24 doesn't show. I am also curious to see if it will make my picture look better since in monitor mode it bypasses the TV's picture controls (they disappear).

I don't have an option to force it on my TV and I don't see anything about it in the Nvidia settings... Anyone have any comments?
