Running 185.18.36 I got the flicker from
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=136062 back. I have identified that it occurs when: - I have two screens in xorg.conf - My secondary screen is disconnected (cable is not connected) otherwise it works ok. In the attachment I have: - my xorg.conf - Xorg.0.log.ok which is Xorg.0.log when no flickering - Xorg.0.log.flickering which is Xorg.0.log when it flickers |

Can you please try 190.36 and see if the problem occurs in that release? Thanks.

Just to clarify the repro steps: If I take your attached xorg.conf and use it, I should get the problem. Also, if I do either or both of:
a) Plug in the second display before starting X. b) Comment out the 2nd screen definition, and remove it from ServerLayout, and restart X. Then either of those will solve/prevent the issue? |

Please can you also provide an "nvidia bug report" for the affected system; in the other thread you referenced, you mentioned you have both an FX1700 and an NVS 290, so I'm not sure which this issue applies to.

Same problem with 190.36
Steps: - both screens plugged in - it works ok - remove cable to second screen (CRT), restart X, flickers when playing movie with vdpau - plug in cable again, restart X, works ok - remove cable to second screen, restart X, flickers - etc. Its the NVS 290. Bug report attached |

Thanks. Can you also try an xorg.conf with the 2nd screen commented out. I assume there's no problem then, irrespective of whether the 2nd monitor is attached or not?

Commenting out different parts of my xorg.conf shows that it is: Option "DynamicTwinView" "False" which is the problem. When I comment this out, I get no flicker at all. It no longer matters if cable is attached or not. So it is apparently turning of DynamicTwinView that vdpau cannot handle. I added this to get more correct refresh rate reports from Xrandr (if I remember correctly). |

We've reproduced the problem you're having. We'll investigate a fix.
