Default Hybrid SLI Linux support status

Hi everyone,

I have a laptop (Dell Studio XPS 13) with the following setup;

nvidia GeForce 9200M GS + nvidia GeForce 9400M G

As there is no support for Hybrid SLI yet, I am currently using the integrated chip only (9400M G), however this is really a waste of resources, with the discrete card completely turned off.

I wonder if anyone knows the status of this feature. I know that Nvidia hasn't shown any interest in supporting this for Linux, and it seems that not even from the next Windows versions. Seems to me they completely abandoned the idea. Anyway, I wonder if someone knows if it is possible to turn off the integrated chip and use the discrete card instead. At least I would use the best of the two. I know this is highly dependent on the BIOS implementation, but when it comes to laptop users, we are pretty restricted in the options available in the BIOS.

Has nVidia really abandoned the idea?

I would have liked to build my next computer with hybrid SLI. I wasn't aware the linux drivers don't support it - what a shame.

Yes, it looks like. The only hope is that through the DSDT tables for this setups would be possible to extract enough information to implement some sort of workaround.

Is there anything new on this? I have the Studio 13 with an nvidia 210m discrete card that is currently inaccessible from Linux. The 9200 works okay for Compiz, but if I ever decide to do any Linux gaming, I'm really going to miss the discrete card.
