I use common sense and usually does the trick. But just in case I run malware bytes and SAS about once a month which usually only find the dumb tracing cookies.

I was using AVG, but the 9.0 update screwed up my media player AND reset my system settings to default. WTF? Uninstalled it and everything is normal again.
So, now I am anti-virus free for the moment.

These days most anti virus program are about equal in keeping the computer safe. Any test will show them all neck and neck for the most part. It comes down more to features and interface, what suits the user the best. Personally, I like a lot of information at my disposal. When something is caught, I like the program to be able to show me information on it, where it's located so I can make sure it's not a false positive, give me options what I want to do with it so the program doesn't just delete something I want. Some Anti Virus programs do this better (or differently) than others.
I use two other things in addition to my antivirus program, Malwarebytes and Spyware Blaster. With the three of those at my disposal, I'm about as safe as I can get.

Ain't that the truth, that thread is gayer than Rosie Odonnell and Ellen Degenerate double penetrating Oprah on a red velvet couch while Richard Simmons looks on and takes notes. |
