No problem. I'm holding out on any upgrade until I see what the GTX300 series brings. Also because I can't afford any upgrade ATM.

I had a co-worker lined up to buy it... but I think he's gonna' back out. So as far as I'm concerned it's available for purchase. Like I said, I'd like to get $150 for it... but I'm not dead set on that price. Due to what shipping would be to send it to you, I'd probably be a bit more flexible as far as price goes.

Does anybody run their gtx 260 on a 500w PSU?

Well, just in case anybody wants to know. I received my gtx 260(core 216) today, and it works fine with my 500w PSU. No stability issues what so ever.

It's a great inexpensive upgrade for anybody with <= 9 series card.

I'll hook up my Kill-A-Watt when I get home and check what I am pulling.

EDIT:

After doing some research, I've found that:

(my old card ) 8800 GTS 320 MB uses 174 W Idle / 267 W Load.

GTX 260 uses 119 W Idle / 270 W load

How many amps are on the 12v rail? thats what really counts.

Okay, you might wanna think about getting another PSU. I say that because dual rail PSU's are of the worst design for gaming rigs.

1 of your 12v rails is entirely wasted on the CPU, this leaves you with a meager 18amps for your video card and the rest of the system. Try to get a nice single 12v rail PSU such as this one-

With a nice single 12v rail you dont have to worry about splitting the load and wasting an entire rail on the CPU, instead with a single 12v rail psu all the power goes to the components that need it the most.

I just got home and tested my box with a Kill-A-Watt,

Total system power: 140w -160w idle, and 250w-300w in game.

After doing more research on power supplies, I have to agree with you that a single 12v with 40+ amps would be ideal, but doesn't my current power usage seem a bit on the low side?

If it is really necessary, I would certainly buy another PSU, however I wanted to keep this upgrade cheap as possible since my next upgrade will be an entirely new system.

Here are my real system specifications:

Core 2 Duo E6420 (65w) @ 2.6 ghz
4GB XMMS2 DDR2 800
2x 7200 RPM drives
1x DVD-RW

gtx 260 55nm 216core @stock.oc

2x92mm fan
1x80mm fan
(I'm guessing these fans are between 5w-15w each?)

If you are not doing any overclocking you might be ok although if it was me I would go ahead and purchase the PSU that I linked you to. Sometimes trying to save a few $$$ by skiming on the PSU can end up costing you a whole lot more $$$ in the long run than what you would have spent on a decent PSU in the first place.

You have to remember that its not just the PSU that might fail, you also run the risk of the PSU taking out the rest of your system as well if it does fail. I dont like those odds myself. The PSU is the heart of your system and is really the most important part.

Ok, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 650 version of the PSU( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 ) you mentioned. Seems pretty solid and should last me for sometime. Tired of thinking about power!

Congrats! very good choice! If I was to buy a new PSU that would be the exact one that I would get. It has a very stout high powered single 12v rail.

The PSU I currently have is the pcpowercooling 610watts. It has 49amps on a single 12v rail, the psu has been solid for me.
