Default Re: G210m Blank Laptop Display

I solved it with:

Quote:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0,DFP-1,CRT"
Option "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin"
EndSection
but one question remains:
does the resolution-identification just work if I restart the X-server or start with sth connected?
that's what happend here

Has anyone tried 190.53? Does this get everything working with G210M chipsets?

I have a Sony Vaio VPCCW13EG, and am willing to use it as a test bed if anyone wants so. AaronP?

Regards,
Radha

Just checked the Change log that is a part of 190.53. Didn't find any such notice...

Is this actually true? Any idea which was the last stable release that could work with Ubuntu 9.10?

Regards,
Radha.

Hi,

I own a Sony Vaio CW with the 230M graphics card and want to run Ubuntu Linux....

This post seems like the answer to me but I cannot extract the EDID .bin file from softMCCS as it just crashes everytime I open it...

Could someone please either post their EDID file or possibly show me another program that will do the same job?

Thanks in advance.

I hope every one posting realizes this EDID workaround by egghead while a nice workaround, is a workaround that addresses a bug, that requires installing win7, and doesn't fix the issue. eg try hitting ctrl+alt+F1.

one question... has everyone submitted a bug report to NVIDIA with a log file from running nvidia-bug-report.sh?

Has anybody tested the new driver yet?

The new driver doesn't change anything.

The nouveau people are working on a solution, It seems as if the edid infos on the newer sony vaios need to be obtained from the systembios, that needs a kernel patch, because it doesn't provide such funcionality.

Maybe someone could test this kernel here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=536923

And what about the brightness issue? Where is the right place to report this? Think that it is not the nvidia drivers work, more an acpi issue?

Hi! I still have a problem getting this thing running. I have a Sony Vaio VPCCW1S1E with one G230M graphic chip. I tried the solution provided by egghead with various nvidia-drivers, and the blank screen issue is solved, but what I get is the following:
The screens max. resolution is 640x480 and the screen appears 6 times seperated by black and grey bars. Does anyone of you guys have any idea what this thing might be? Thank you for your time,

Andreas.
