I have not had a chance to try this out. I didn't find this until this morning I will try this out when I get home tonight.

I use a regular mic that's attached to my headset.

I was thinking at first that it was the drivers for my sound card, then I started thinking that this has to be a bug....

From what I can see there's 2 bugs. Apparently there is an issue with L4D2 playing nice with mics, which is covered in that steam thread I posted.

There's also Win 7's (and Vista's) configuration, which isn't a bug so much as it is that's the way they set it up. Why would I want to hear myself?? I don't understand their reasoning, not to mention the fact that every fix I've found so far is a "May or may not work" type of workaround.

Very frustrating, I'm considering a decent usb mic to see if that works any better for me.

This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't work at first, then just stop. grrrr

Yea...most of those posts were kids bickering with each other.

I think that I may have a solution to on of those problems....I will uninstall Win7 drivers for my SupremeFX X-FI card, and install the drivers intended for it. After that is done, I will see if my mic is playing nice with my playback hardware.

Heh, I got the new FX drivers off Asus site and have the same results with or without them. They sound fantastic, I just want a dang mic to work.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.....

As you can tell my mic is working, it's just annoying hearing my voice on my own speakers. My voice is intended to annoy my team mates (all with the exception of Rochelle....I know my voice is making her.....nvm)

I've progressed up to a hot mic all the time now LOL.

Now to find a PTT fix.

I don't even have a mic.

Been eyein' a $30 Logitech USB mic. I've just gone this long without one I'm finding it hard to drop the $30.

As for Windows 7... lovin' it so far.
