Its been a couple years since I last played it but I don't recall having any problems getting it to work. Its one of those Windows 95 only games (no DOS) so it should work alright.

I still have it in the original huge box. I still remember when we bought it. Back in 1998 my brother and I were waiting for it to arrive after ordering from one of those old mail order clubs (anyone remember the names of any of these?). While we were waiting, his freaking 1.5Gb Maxtor hard drive died. We were going crazy because the game required more space than he had left on his ~500Mb drive. So he ordered (over the phone) a massive 2.5Gb Quantum Bigfoot 5.25" drive. We eventually got the drive and the game and all was well with the world.

Aha! Realms of the Haunting!

Have you played it yet?

Its an incredible game.

I really really regret getting rid of the box though. I got the retail boxed game for $2 at some dollar store that was selling a ridiculous amount of old PC games back in 1998-1999. Like a retard I ended up selling it to one of my friends. Later on he was getting rid of it and I got it back but it was just the 4-disk jewel case. I'll have to see if I can find another boxed copy on ebay.

Played it for about 15 minutes. All FMV is in 320x400 which is odd, but it still looks good for a 1996 DOS game. The 3D interactive mode is also good. It plays perfectly in DOSBox. I could see myself playing it some more. I've gotta finish Under a Killing Moon first. I alternate between old and new games. UAKM is my current old game I'm playing through.

ROTH is a huge game too. You'll be exploring a mansion at a few different times but most of the game is spent in what is basically, heaven, hell and the places in between.

Man... I want to play through it again now.

I'd kill for an OpenGL source port of this game to run it at a higher resolution. The textures and sprites are actually really good. Running at 640x480 doesn't do it justice.

I just loaded it on Win7 64 not long ago, it works fine but I had to alt-tab out of the game and then back into it to solve some color issues.

Wonder if Virtual PC would be better? It doesn't use any advanced hardware stuff does it?

You're probably referring to Bladerunner, and not Realms of the Haunting, but I just thought I'd post this:

http://www.realmsofthehaunting.com/windows-xp.php

Its a tutorial on getting ROTH working via Virtual PC rather than DOSBox. To be honest, it probably applies to Bladerunner as well. The games were released around the same time.
