I have a similar issue with a Philips TV and ION system as well. How did you get this working? Thanks.

First, you need to save edid data. When ION is connected with CRT option (Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT"), it can see the edid information. Refer to attached log files to see xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log.
This edid information is to be saved as edid.bin (AaronP did this for me).
I think you can use my edid data from post #10.

Second, you use "DFP" option and make ION use edid.bin:
Code:
  Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"
  Option "CustomEDID" "DFP:/path/to/phillips-ftv-edid.bin"
After this, I can use full HD without any problem and in ALSA hdmi output became live.
