Default New Driver?

I was hoping Nvidia would release a new driver soon. The current driver (190.53 is dead on arrival, and the old one (190.42) is getting very very slow in twinview (its tough to play games at 3 frames per second). I thought it might be that I was running custom kernels, but I switched to stock ubuntu kernels and the new driver won't install on that either (like I said, dead on arrival). Does anyone know if there is an update somewhere (or at least a driver that says something more useful than 'oh you have to have source installed ...somewhere, you know, in the place, in the special secret place, on your computer somewhere... but not just anywhere). A driver like that would be an example of ...interactive... software, and would be ...useful. An example: "hey! I couldn't install because I was looking for file blah in location blah-blah. " --an example of useful, interactive software. Is there any hope for Linux users stuck with nvidia hardware?

Read the sticky threads. You are an example of someone creating useless threads. Provide some information about your problem or no one can help you.

Free myself for $200+? Doesn't sound so free to me.

Rather bind yourself forever in mediocrity and become open to hackers.
