Default Re: [180.08] Screen off after suspend to ram

I still can't suspend to ram on my Acer Aspire 5652 with Geforce Go 7600.

It works with 173.x and stopped working with 177.x, still does not work with 180.25.

When I try to suspend, the machine does not even go to sleep. Screen just turns black, but the fan keeps running and all LEDs are still lit. If I press the power button, the system resets, after a short while, but it is no clean shutdown as the journal has to be replayed afterwards.

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04.2 and tested with ubuntu kernel 2.6.24-23 and vanilla 2.6.28.2.

Just upgraded to 180.27, I can suspend/resume properly now. And the system is using less ram overtime that before (memory leak?)

Thank you very much, it works again here also :-)
9600GT cards with 180.27 under 2.6.28.

I would agree that KDE 4 and NVIDIA integration is getting somewhere. I'll switch to 180.xx Drivers immediately after it starts resuming from S3 correctly.
Excellent! Just for the record. With 180.27 notebook running 2.6.27.12-78.2.8.fc9.i686 resumes from S3 perfectly
Hopefully fedora users will see kmod-nvidia-beta-180.27* packages soon.

I have a 6600GT, linux 2.6.29-rc8, the latest driver 185.13 and hibernate still does not work. How many more releases will it take to fix this issue? It did work with some old 17X driver, but I cannot use taht old version, because it will not install on the latest kernel.

This also worked for me on my T61p running CentOS 5.3 and NVIDIA driver v. 180.29.
Code:
# lshal | grep system.hardware
  system.hardware.uuid = 'DF37AB01-48E1-11CB-899F-934D9AAE0C97'  (string)
  system.hardware.serial = 'L3C9943'  (string)
  system.hardware.version = 'ThinkPad T61p'  (string)
  system.hardware.product = '64577WU'  (string)
  system.hardware.vendor = 'LENOVO'  (string)
  system.hardware.primary_video.product = 1036  (0x40c)  (int)
  system.hardware.primary_video.vendor = 4318  (0x10de)  (int)
21-video-quirk-nvidia.fdi contains a match for my primary_video.product number so it was negating (using "remove key") anything in my 20-video-quirk-pm-el5-lenovo.fdi file (the files are applied in the ascending order of the prefix number, 20 then 21):
Code:
<match key="system.hardware.primary_video.product" int_outof="...0x40c;...">
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.vbestate_restore"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.vbemode_restore"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.dpms_suspend"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.dpms_on"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.radeon_off"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.s3_bios"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.s3_mode"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.vga_mode_3"></remove>
        <remove key="power_management.quirk.none"></remove>
        <merge key="power_management.quirk.vbe_post" type="bool">true</merge>
This site helped me a lot.

I've had problems with suspend to ram for years. I've been convinced all along that it was nvidia drivers' fault. Turns out it was the kernel.

What was enough was adding the option below to the kernel boot parameters:
Code:
acpi_sleep=old_ordering
It took me half a day's work to figure that out but now suspend works beautifully :-)
