Default Performance Increases with I7-950 3.06Ghz?

I am looking to upgrade the system the is in my signature below by adding an I7 CPU and probably 6GB of 1600Mhz memory on possibly an EVGA tri-SLI X58 motherboard. I will also get a newer power supply in anticipation of the new Nvidia cards coming out eventually, probably in 2xSLI configuration. With that said, what type of performance increase would I see with my current system if I changed it to a 3.06ghz I7-950 with 6GB of DDR 1600?

I don't think much, not nearly enough to justify the price.
I am not an expert in this though, so maybe others will have different views.

performance increase in games will be marginal, you will see biggest increase in video encoding.

Why not just get the 920?

Your current CPU is great. I'd say wait until the new 6 and 8 core processors are released.

If you're gaming only i say no. If you do a lot of video encoding like i do and programming go for it. Get i920 model, it is good overclocker.
