About the only thing left not to make it NV 30 revision 2.0 is how it performs,but Nvidia is still keeping that a secret so it's not exactly confidence inspiring here,though i'm hoping for the best,since with both companies competing for our money,it means faster cards,sooner,for less money.

I know you exaggerating , but ill humor you.
Even if its twice as hot as long as its working as intended it doesn't matter if its 100c or 0c im not holding it on my lap what happens inside the case is not relevant if its stable and working.
Same for power 100w or 200w if i was concerned for power usage i wouldn't use 295 and didn't OC my power hungry i7
Being faster then HD5870 is a given if it does cost 100$ more id still get it, i can surely afford it.
I know some people just look for best bang for the buck or performance per watt or something but im looking for specific things and ATI doesn't deliver. I want fastest single GPU solution and i want PhysX, i dont like ATI software and AMD camp doesn't offer anything else that interest me.

I kinda thought Nvidia was bailing out of the highend sector cuz of the econemy and most folks aren't going to shell out 500 bucks no more for hardware that changes in six months.

I think they designed a card for compute applications and they're just hoping it'll be good enough @ gaming to sell in that arena as well.

Seriously though, I hope this turns out great. Jen-Hsun seemed pretty adamant about performance at CES. Sure it could have been spin, but when I asked him point blank about performance he claimed "No game out there can push this card"...I don't remember exactly how the conversation went, but I went on to ask him "even at high res (30" res)"? He said something like "yeah, no problem". He seemed very confident, and he knew I used to work for EVGA so I don't think he would dumb things down for me...

Of course, Nvidia seemed confident on the NV30, but I digress...lol

All the latest high end cards from the past 2 generations pawn current games easily,even more so when going multi GPU,so thee main question is....How much does it pawn,and does it pawn over what the competition has?


To be honest,it's kinda of a stupid idea these days that metric is still used,because we're not comparing chips with 20~30 million transistors anymore,and which is the better gaming card,since there were games on the market at the time when those cards were released,that could really put the pain on them,at graphics settings much lower than what review sites have to use these days for high end card releases,since hardware is advancing much faster than the software itself.


We're now with GPU's with 2 to 3 billion transistors,and vastly able to exceed what games need anywhere near the forseable future,and can even be used for other purposes too(GP-GPU),so we're having these pissing matches between cards just for the sake of having pissing matches really,not because it makes a difference in actual gaming experience terms,as they'll both play games at insane settings and support DX11.

It´s sorta interesting in speculating how low they can price the Geforce boards just to compete and stick it to ATi depending on how well they do with Tesla and Quadro boards.

For example, a GTX285 costs about 390usd or so, a Tesla C1060 (which unless Im wrong is based on the same GPU) costs 1,219usd.
Now that´s a pretty juicy premium on the hardware, granted the components probably cost a little more on those boards, but still.

And the Quadro FX5800, also same GPU, goes for 2,949USD.
An even larger premium.

I would imagine they´d kick up the pricing on the Fermi based Teslas a bit but who knows.

i want one of these to replace my 2 280gtx,s i no it might not befaster than wot i have but if it isnt as good then ill maybe add another 280 for tri sli.im hoping fermi the frog doesnt croak.im hoping that it will be a monster of a card as other people have said you wont see any dx 11 games for a while.

Isn´t that up to the manufacturers though?

btw how is DisplayPort coming along compared to something like HDMI in terms of support?

I had a sale for my 9850BE and 4870 system, couldn't wait anymore for GF100...bought what was available. Keep in mind that my 5850 cost about 300 bucks CAD.
