Exclamation Sony Vaio VPCCW15FL - Black screen (screen not detected)

I have purchased a Sony VAIO VPCCW15FL Laptop.

Using Ubuntu 9.10, 64.Bits, when I install the NVIDIA drivers, the laptop's screen stops working. Luckily, I can use a TV connected to the HDMI port.

I have tried using the drivers from the repositories using the restricted driver manager (version 185), and upgraded them to the drivers from the NVIDIA VDPAU Launchpad team(1) (190.53) and the problem persists in both cases.

The NVIDIA settings application only lists my Phillips TV, and as soon as I get to the login screen, the display switches from my laptop's monitor to the TV.

Help would be greatly appreciated, as I require Google Earth for work, and need the mobility a laptop provides.

TIA,
Pat

Edit: well, I found a post that helped at http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...3&postcount=22

Now it fails to detect my TV on the HDMI port.

Will try to do the same thing and hope it works.
