The 5970 is a killer card. Hopefully the next driver will improve the situation for me... Otherwise I'm thinking about going back to a single GTX 280 until Fermi hits. Performance isn't everything.

Thanks. Sorry that you're still having trouble. Are the problems you're experiencing when you're on an HDTV or a DVI/VGA monitor?

I've had very few issues w/ ATI drivers when I'm on a DVI or VGA monitor. For some reason, ATI has had trouble with HDTV displays--probably due to the lesser demand of compatibility with them as the majority do not use them with their PCs.

Then again, I don't run all the different media center software packages that you're trying to run, and I've never tried running both ATI and Nvidia cards in my machine.

Good luck in getting everything sorted out. Fermi likely won't best 5970 in performance, but it'll be a great card and may offer you the compatibility that you're looking for outside of gaming. Gaming is just about all I do, that and video editing and some photoshop work. Haven't had trouble in the past with any of these on ATI.

So if I OF ALL PEOPLE do not engage in it, why the hell should other people be so nasty? it just is senseless. The bottom line is THEY ARE JUST PIECES OF HARDWARE. If you want to get emotional about something, get emotional over the poor people in Haiti who are having mass graves with no ID of the dead. Nvidia and AMD are both leading fund raising efforts.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Today's culture is the result of a lot of insecure brats who place their self esteem in their PC hardware.

I've owned both NV/ATI over the years and usually go with whichever fits my current needs/wants the most. When I first saw Eyefinity, I knew that I wanted to go with ATI this round since they had a seamless, in-driver surround gaming experience ready to go. Others may be more into the 3-D gaming and go with Nvidia. It boils down to whatever a person's tastes are.

Actually there are 30" LCD's,but they're about 1200$ a pop,so figure close to 4000$ for three of them + taxes + shipping costs.

Not to mention the huge desk you'd need to have room for all 3 displays.

Are you getting the new Acer or the Dell Alienware 24" 120Hz monitors. Both look pretty damn cool. Very nice price for the Alienware one.
